Standard Original Prints are signed with my Short Given Name, and Surname only.

What material is used for your Original Prints?

Can I buy an Original?

Only specific paintings are available as an Original. Interested parties, please send an email (bottom of page), quoting “Original” in the Subject line, and in the Body; the painting desired.

Original Prints, are the
only format available.* Both are found in the VIP Gallery.

* The IFPDA definition: “A digital print is only considered an “original print” if it was created by the artist to be realized specifically as a print.”

In other words my original prints are a direct transfer from my originals via a digital file processing system.
Real pigment is used in the process. These products are not reproductions. Reproductions, use dyes as in the offset lithography printing process.

My Original Prints are so close to the Original, they are virtually

Art as an investment.

Unless you are a serious collector of art, the term is best defined as, "purchase what you like."
A great conversational piece after all, makes you look good, and is always a winner with an audience.

What is a Giclée Print?

A Giclée print is the highest quality print available today. The word Giclée is a French word meaning 'to squirt'. The process is digital printmaking with a printer that uses minute droplets of archival ink to create prints that cannot be duplicated by other printing techniques. Because there is no visible dot screen pattern the resulting image has all of the subtle tonalities of the original art. Each dot may have over 4 billion possible colors! This produces exceptional museum quality prints.

What are some of the benefits of Giclée Printmaking?

The benefits are numerous and varied. Versatility in subject matter and the ability to experiment. Since the initial investment in a Giclée edition is minimal, the artist can take more risks to find out what is acceptable to the market and will sell. This allows the artist more creative freedom and help prevent costly mistakes.

Additionally it is becoming more and more widely acknowledged that Giclée prints offer richness, detail and depth that clearly set them apart from traditional offset lithography. When printed on archival art papers and canvas, the Giclée has the look and feel of original fine art.

Are Giclée acceptable with prominent museums and artists?

Yes, just to drop a few names here, Robert Bateman, Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, Robert Rauschenburg and David Hockney are among the many well-known artists who are having Giclées printed.

In addition, Giclées are being embraced by dozens of museums around the world including New York's Metropolitan Museum and the Guggenheim, the National Museum of Mexico, the Corcoran in Washington, DC, and the High Museum in Atlanta to name a few.

What is the expected life of a Giclée print?

The most important fact to remember is that all color fades. As far as Giclée prints are concerned, some original watercolors will fade faster than a well-made Giclée. Unlike lithographs and serigraphs, IRIS Giclées have undergone extensive, third-party fade-testing.

While the predicted display life depends on many variables, if using the newest Lyson prototype inks available, Giclée print can last as long as 75 years before noticeable fading begins.
